What does internal medicine consultation consist of?
- The internist first does a whole body health assessment.
- It checks the health of the heart (blood pressure, pulse, detection of arrhythmias, etc.), blood circulation, lung function (essential examination especially in the case of smokers), the health of the liver and the rest of the internal organs, as well as the appearance of the skin.
- Following the evaluation, this one can recommend a set of routine annual tests and possibly the addition of other tests, depending on the specific conditions or predispositions of each patient.
- If the specialist recommends that you test your blood sugar, cholesterol level or perform imaging investigations, don’t hesitate! Knowing your body is very important in making the right decisions for a healthier and more peaceful life.
- Usually the patient return for control no later than 30 days after the consultation, for the interpretation of the analyzes and the establishment of the treatment plan and possibly the diet, which must be monitored and evaluated periodically.
